ChatGPT debuted in November 2022, while Google entered the GenAI market with its chatbot Bard in March 2023. Since then, these chatbots have been competing with new upgrades and functionality to be the top priority for users. However, the debate of which one is better in SEO content strategy is won by ChatGPT. So, let’s see how ChatGPT beats Gemini in SEO content strategy with its abilities.

On one side, we have Gemini, which is powered by Google’s latest model, and on the other hand, we have ChatGPT, which is backed by Nvidia GPUs built specifically for OpenAI by Microsoft. Gemini has native integration into Google’s ecosystem and a stronger ability to process data. Meanwhile, ChatGPT is the preferred tool for a specific and critical task, that is, SEO content strategy here.

Generating creative copies, offering keyword research, and integrating third-party features have remained the best features of ChatGPT so far in SEO content strategy. Here is a comparison of how ChatGPT has ultimately beaten Gemini.

ChatGPT vs Gemini – Examples

From research, we have concluded that ChatGPT is better for SEO content creation than Gemini because this Large Language Model (LLM) understands the user prompts for intent and gives more human-like results. Here is a glimpse of how ChatGPT beats Gemini in SEO content creation:

1. Keyword Ideation And Content Planning

The majority of us, including marketers, prefer ChatGPT for its ability to facilitate keyword ideation and content planning. As we stated earlier, this LLM masters user intent and provides keyword suggestions that help marketers plan their content funnel. This advantage contributes to aligning the content plan with the stages of a buyer’s journey (awareness, consideration, decision).

Example For Keyword Ideation From ChatGPT And Gemini

We asked ChatGPT and Gemini:

“I’m creating a blog post for an indoor gardening business. Please provide a list of seed keywords for a beginner audience.”

ChatGPT’s Output:

It gave us a list of seed keywords organised under the banner of different categories that fulfil the intent “for a beginner audience”. The categories included:

  • General Indoor Gardening Keywords
  • Plant Type Keywords
  • Beginner Help Keywords
  • Tools & Supplies Keywords
  • Environment & Conditions Keywords

For a marketer, these keyword categories are like a treasure to fulfil various search intents, aligning with the different stages of a content funnel (awareness, consideration, decision).

Gemini’s Response:

The same prompt was given to Gemini, but Gemini’s response was a bit generic, as it suggested a simple list of seed keywords without depth and understanding of the marketer’s need to explore different genres of keywords for the topic.

Example For Content Brief Creation

We asked ChatGPT and Gemini:

“Create a content brief for a blog post titled ‘How to Water Your Succulents.’ The main keyword is ‘how to water succulents.

ChatGPT’s Response:

As expected, ChatGPT understood the intent behind “content brief” and gave us a clear brief, including Search Intent, Target Audience, Word Count, and above all, it generated a clear and well-structured outline for the blog post.

Gemini’s Response:

On the other hand, Gemini elaborated on the intent, goals, and audience and provided related topics that can be covered instead of focusing the brief on the “How To” part.

2. Content Clarity And Usability

When it comes to getting ranked on search engines, you have to make your content clear and useful for the readers. As per research and experience, content generated by ChatGPT is known to be more natural and conversational. This makes it easier to digest and adapt into actionable content. ChatGPT’s long-form content includes analogies to simplify complex topics.

Example Of Explaining SEO Basics to a Client

We asked ChatGPT and Gemini:

“Explain what a backlink is to a client who doesn’t know much about SEO.”

ChatGPT’s Response:

ChatGPT explained what a backlink is in a clear and concise way, making it simpler with an easy example. It further explained the role of backlinks in SEO and what it means to search engines.

Gemini’s Response:

In this case, Gemini and ChatGPT’s responses are pretty much similar. However, Gemini explained it with some difficult words and examples that a client who is new to SEO won’t easily understand.

Example Of Meta Descriptions

We asked ChatGPT and Gemini:

“Write three creative and enticing meta descriptions for a blog post about ‘The Best Hiking Trails in Colorado for Beginners.’ Focus on encouraging clicks.”

ChatGPT’s Response:

This bot focused on the part where we need meta descriptions, so it followed the character limit accordingly. Each option was under the character limit preferred by Google, i.e, 155-160 characters. Besides, they were all engaging enough to be clickable by readers.

Gemini’s Response:

Gemini’s generated options of meta descriptions are just like ChatGPT’s. The options might be correct and include keywords, but they often lack the emotional resonance and call to action (clickability). This makes ChatGPT examples stand out for improving click-through rates. Besides, none of the options met the criteria of character limit, i.e, 155-160 characters.

3. Creative Copywriting for On-Page SEO

Now, let’s see which one of the two chatbots is winning the creative copywriting battle.

We asked ChatGPT and Gemini:

“Write a product description for an organic, lavender-scented candle. Target the keywords ‘organic lavender candle’ and ‘relaxing home fragrance.’ Use a soothing and luxurious tone.”

ChatGPT’s Response:

Organic Lavender Candle

Unwind in pure serenity with our organic lavender candle, hand-poured using 100% natural soy wax and infused with the calming essence of real lavender essential oil. Crafted for those who crave a moment of peace, this candle fills your space with a relaxing home fragrance that soothes the senses and elevates your mood.

Housed in a minimalist glass jar, it complements any décor while creating a spa-like atmosphere in your home. Whether you’re easing into a bath, settling down with a book, or setting the mood for restful sleep, this candle is your invitation to slow down and breathe deeply.

✨ Clean-burning

 ✨ Vegan & cruelty-free

✨ No synthetic fragrances or paraffin

Let the gentle glow and calming aroma of our organic lavender candle transform your home into a sanctuary of stillness and comfort.

Gemini’s Response:

Immerse yourself in tranquillity with our organic lavender candle. Hand-poured using only the finest eco-friendly ingredients, this candle offers a pure and clean burn, free from synthetic fragrances and dyes. The delicate, authentic scent of lavender essential oil gently fills your space, creating a serene atmosphere that calms the mind and soothes the spirit.

Perfect for unwinding after a long day or cultivating a peaceful ambience, our relaxing home fragrance is an invitation to pause and breathe. Light the wick, close your eyes, and let the calming aroma transport you to a field of blooming lavender. Experience true relaxation, bottled in a jar.

Our Remarks:

ChatGPT understood that it was for a product description, so it followed a proper structure with a paragraph and then bullet points to highlight the product’s specifications. Meanwhile, Gemini’s response is a bit direct and lacks proper structuring. Gemini’s description might be more factual and straightforward, perhaps focusing on the ingredients and size without the same level of emotive language or a clear focus on the user’s desired feeling (relaxation, luxury).

Conclusion

Gemini is good for technical SEO with its semantic analysis, while ChatGPT is best with creative processes like content creation. The best way to excel in SEO is to utilise the best features of both of these bots. As we know, the future of effective SEO content strategy will be dominated by a multi-approach system. A hybrid approach that uses the unique strengths of each platform is the most promising path forward.
